Broken Bridge
Río Grande, Puerto Rico

“Puente Roto”, Spanish for broken bridge, is a wonderful area that is part of the Mameyes River in Río Grande. It is located approximately ten minutes by car from the main entrance of the El Yunque National Forest (Carretera 191). Once you pass the El Portal of the El Yunque, turn left on Road 988. There is a sign that identifies the way to Puente Roto. Only a few minutes away you will find the bridge that crosses the river. Parking is limited and on occasions you will have to park on the edge of the roadway. It is an excellent choice because it tends to be less visited than other nearby rivers.
