Cristobal Colón Statue

The “Estatua de Cristobal Colón” or Christopher Columbus Statue is located on the coast of Arecibo, specifically on highway # 681, after “La Cueva del Indio” or Cave of the Indian, if going from Arecibo to Barceloneta. It is one of the highest statues in the world, with a height of 268 feet and an approximate weight of 6.5 tons. Comparing it with the Statue of Liberty, which measures 151 feet; but adding its base, it measures 305 feet. This architectural work is not yet open to the public, but is already visited and admired from the street by thousands of Puerto Ricans and tourists. It’s expected to be inaugurated in the first months of 2017. Not being open, there are no restrooms available.
