El Castillo de San Cristóbal was built by the Spaniards in the eighteenth-century to protect against land from attacks on the city of San Juan. It is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World. It was finished in 1783 and covered about 27 acres of land, basically wrapping the city of San Juan. The entry to the city was sealed by double gates of San Cristobal Castle. This castle is impressive by its dark dungeons, canons, walls, lighthouse, view and history. It’s a must to see and visit.
